1.  I’m the youngest of four daughters.  I helped to take care of my Daddy following a massive stroke.  This changed the way I spent the remainder of my college years.  I am grateful that I had that time with him and really don’t mind that it changed the tone of the remainder of my college years.

2.  We are what would be considered accidental homeschoolers.  I never really thought that I would be a homeschool mom since I worked for years in area public schools.  Now, I couldn’t imagine not homeschooling…well except on those horrible days where all homeschool moms dream of being able to ship their children off to school, LOL!

3.  I have polycystic kidney disease (PKD).  At times you will see me not so lovingly write about my “evil beans” aka kidneys.  This is mostly when they are misbehaving.  We would get along fine if they would just be good.

4.  I have two wonderful kiddos who are currently ages 11 and 6.  They are the stars of most of the crazy adventures I mention on the blog.

5.  I started this blog to find other secular homeschoolers.  I’m excited that so many of us have been connected by my little blog.  I hope you keep reading as I try to make positive changes to the blog.

Suzuki Association has resources for parents

One of my favorite resources to use is our local universities that have music departments.  They have free concerts on a regular basis which are a great way to introduce your children to a variety of music.  Many professors and students offer lessons to children.   My daughter takes harp lessons from a professor at one of our local universities.  If you call the music department office, they will be able to tell you when student and staff recitals are.

What are some of your favorite sites to find music related info?  I will be sharing more of mine over the coming weeks.

1.  NASA has all sorts of great science resources.  They have a lot of videos and live feeds that are great for homeschoolers.

2.  Home Science Tools is a wonderful source for lab equipment for homeschool families.  They also  have lots of great gift ideas.

3.  Steve Spangler Science is the place to go if you are looking for some quick and engaging science experiments to wow your students.

4.  NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Another favorite in our house for science fun!

5.   Local science centers such as the Discovery Center in Springfield, Missouri or the St. Louis Science Center.  Be sure to check our your local science centers.  Many have special events just for homeschoolers!

I know it is called “Wordless Wednesday”, but I couldn’t help but post a few words.  This is my blog post calendar.  The words highlighted in pink indicates that I posted that day.  As you can see I posted something to the blog everyday this month!  Yeah!  I completed the NaBloPoMo challenge for the month of November!  I will be the first to admit that I didn’t post as many long articles as I would have liked, but I started off this month telling myself that I would get “something” on the blog everyday.  I’m happy that I followed through and completed the challenge.  I’m going to continue the challenge and I have some plans in the works for the blog.
