On Saturday I tweeted about going to Lowe’s Build and Grow. Have you taken your kiddos yet? It is a fun way to spend a half an hour on a Saturday morning. The kiddos have the chance to make a wood project and when they are done they get a certificate and patch to put on their aprons.
Now don’t fall over, but the following are real live pictures of the family in action. Now we can move on since you have picked yourself up off the floor following the shock that Andrea aka Heathen Mom broke the media blackout of the family. The cast of characters: Cute geek is Heathen Dad (James) and our adorable Heathen Son and Heathen Daughter (We shall call them D and E). I am missing from the pictures because someone has to look like the crazy blogger girl who thinks Saturday morning at Lowe’s is an ideal time for a family photo shoot.
You start off your morning grabbing a project pack and hammer. I mention the hammers because my daughter just LOVES the little hammers that are her size.
My son can put together the projects by himself, but he usually works along with his sister so they can complete it at the same time. If James is with us he usually helps E work on her project. I think it is adorable the way the kiddos get excited when Daddy is there to work with. Don’t tell hubby that I know, but I really think he likes spending the time with the kiddos as well.
The instructions are always easy to understand. The pictures make it where even the youngest children can understand the basic construction plan.
After reading the instructions the fun part begins…..construction!
Don’t worry Dad, I’ll read the instructions.
D is pretty good with a hammer.
The project this week was a fun old time cup and ball game. The kids have had fun playing with the new games. The next project will be a UFO. The kids are looking forward to it. You didn’t think I was going to end the post before showing you the finished project did you? I won’t leave you in suspense any longer….Here is the cup and ball game that D built.
Disclosure: The family participated in the Lowe’s Build and Grow for free. You can participate for free as well. Check out the Lowe’s site for more information. No additional compensation was given for writing this post. I wrote about the program because I think it is a really cool thing to do.
