Heathen Ramblings

Oh my how time has flown the last few days.  Note to self – don’t plan on taking that many days away from my online life again, lol.  I’m still weeding through emails.  So today’s post is a look inside the ramblings of me, Heathen Mom.  Maybe someone else can make sense out of the ones I can’t, lol!

~ Thursday was like catch up day around the house.  After being away from the house to supervise standardized testing for two days, there was a serious list of things past due around here.  I still haven’t found a laundry fairy to take care of the clothes around here.

~ Friday…..well Friday was the day tornados and straight winds made for an interesting morning.  UGH!  Trying to entertain several children at homeschool orchestra while tornado sirens were blaring and the power couldn’t decide if it wanted to stay on was not a good way to start the day.

~ To put it bluntly, Saturday sucked.  Nuff said.

~ Sunday…Mother’s Day…Everyone had children who looked like they walked out of a catalog and everything went like a family oriented commercial.  What?  Your day didn’t look like that?  Oh, so your day was like mine – children were complaining because we didn’t do everything that everyone wanted to do because there just are not enough hours in the day….hubby complained because I had the audacity to cut my hair shorter….the children giving me cute cards and pictures that they made…giving me hugs and kisses….a million I love yous and happy mother’s days…the realization that I’ll take my kooky family over the “perfect” families in commercials any day!

~ Today I had a make-up day for the standardized testing that we did last week.  I will be glad to get everything ready and shipped to be scored.  That is my afternoon project tomorrow.

~ This evening I started returning the massive amount of emails that I didn’t take care of over my long weekend.  I also decided it was time to do some work here at Heathen Homeschoolers.  I have some new things in store for my site that will be slowly started over the next few weeks.  I’m really excited!

I love knowing there are other Heathens in the world like us.  I can’t believe I have over 160 twitter followers listening to my ramblings.  I love it!  To me it just reinforces the fact that there are a lot more homeschoolers out there who use an academic approach than most people believe.

The number of sites linking to this one has grown a lot in the last month.  I humbly would like to thank everyone who feels that my blog is worth mentioning to others.  Thanks for spreading the word about Heathen Homeschoolers to others who may be interested.

Andrea over at MomWriterMe was even kind enough to leave me a cool friendship and blogger award.  Thanks so much for the award.  I’m going to add it to my trophy case as soon as I’m a good Heathen Mom and post the answers to all the questions.

~I have a department panel meeting for the academic department of our homeschool group soon. I really need to get everything printed for that meeting.  It is the one where I will unveil the schedule for next year for discussion and approval of the panel.  I hope it all goes well.

~To just make it a marathon meeting day, following the panel meeting I have the board meeting of the homeschool group immediately following.  At this meeting all the department events for next year will be approved.  Doesn’t that just scream extremely long meeting to you?

So that’s the rambling in my head tonight, lol!  Have a great night!  Tomorrow is another day and another homeschooling topic here at Heathen Homeschoolers!

Hear, hear for the academic approach! We do have to test here in NY, but I can administer the test at home. I didn’t know which one to go with, so I ordered the PASS & the CAT so we could compare them. If my son doesn’t mind, I’ll have him take both just so we can know for the future which one makes the most sense. If you have any experience with either, I’d love to hear about them.

My son did the CAT-5 last year because we needed a standardized test score for a summer program that he attended.
