Last weekend we packed up the kiddos and headed to Kansas City. Heathen Dad attended a Sharepoint Saturday conference (aka got his geek on at a geek conference). The plan was for me and the kiddos to have fun on Saturday and then all of us hang out together Sunday. Oh what fun we had.
Here is a quick recap of a few of the things that I tweeted about over the weekend.
My youngest was so excited to eat lunch at the Crayola Cafe. The bright colors of the cafe caught her eye as soon as she saw it. Everyone at the table colored on placemats while we waited for food. The service was quick and the food that we had was pretty good. There was only a forty-five minute wait for a table on Saturday. The kiddos say it was well worth the wait.
Science City can be found at Union Station. It is very much like the local children’s science center that we visit on a regular basis. The kids had a ball exploring the different areas of the center. Some of the favorites of our visit: space shuttle landing simulators, worked in a crime lab, weather station, watching a video of an open heart surgery procedure (My four year old loved this! She watched the entire thing.) and of course visiting the sewer. It is a nice way to spend an afternoon if you are ever in Kansas City and need a kid-friendly place to hang out.
Here is a picture of the sewer we walked in at Science City. It looks real and the floor is a squishy material so you get a more realistic experience. This is part of an exhibit that is about public works.
What else did we do over the weekend? We shopped quite a bit and had some good food. If you are heading to Joe’s Crab Shack – get the “Gone Fishin” drink. You won’t be disappointed, lol!
Heathen Dad won a new model of Zune at the geek conference. I think it will become my Zune soon. After all, I have been a pretty good girl this year Santa

Wow! What a cool place! We do the same thing when Dad has to go out of town, tag along and see the sites.
I consider it to be one of the perks on homeschooling
