My son loves to do messy science experiments. One of his favorite things to make is slime. Here is the slime recipe we use.
Materials needed:
Borax
White glue
Water
Food Coloring (optional, but having colored slime is just a lot of fun)
Ziploc bags
1. Add 1Tbs of borax to 1 cup of water. Stir until completely dissolved.
2. Mix ¼ cup water and ¼ cup glue together.
3. In a Ziploc bag add equal parts of the borax solution and glue solution. ½ cup of each will make a full cup of slime. That is plenty to play with.
4. Add a couple drops of food coloring to have a cool color of slime.
5. Seal bag and knead your slime. Kneading can take awhile.
Have fun playing with your slime. Be sure to wash your hands before and after playing with slime. Slime can be kept in the refrigerator when not being played with. This helps to prolong the life of your slime.
WARNING SCIENCE CONTENT:
How does this make slime?
The borax acts as the crosslinking agent or connector for the glue molecules. The glue molecules join together to create polymers. When this happens the thickened mixture looks like slime.
Have a great slime day!

I love this!! We have three bags of it on my coffee table and they have been there for about 4 weeks now. We call it gooey gunk though. Same stuff. Same recipe! It is really neat!!!
I love slime – need to try this recipe! Thanks!
I think I like this one as much as my kids!!
Hey, side question…. this may be a dumb question, but what’s up with the heathen homeschooler thing? Is it just a differentiation between the many that homeschool for religious reasons? No judgment, just nosiness…
